Everyone is an Artist

Picasso said,

"Every Child is an artist".

Why stop there. Keep going, don't let that feeling go.

Remember the days when you didn't care what people thought about your art?

Go back to that.

There are different avenues of art.

Picasso was a master artist at a very young age.

This is proof that you don't have to fit a mold of perfection. Perfection is boring.

Have fun, like Picasso. He was a big kid. His are was fun. He was experimental.

Or be like Jackson Pollock! He had fun with splatter paint.

He used the colors to show his emotions. He used gravity and force to control his drops.

He was having fun and being expressive.

SO should you.

The end of Picasso's quite goes like this...

"The Problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."

Solution, DON"T GROW UP!

Create like a kid, or at least when it's time to create, go back to the ideas you had when you were a kid. Go into your "art zone", escape the world, be free to do it your way.

My NEW Room

I'm so excited to be working at Alba Golden Elementary.

I want to make this year special for the students and do my best to make the room more relaxing, clean and organized. I am putting my best foot forward and using elbow grease to change some things up. I have painted 7 pieces of furniture, altered 3 chairs, put op posters & labeled and organized the cabinets.

NightOwls

We watched videos on YouTube about owls.

Then we looked at real images of owls on google pictures.

We sketched out our owls together step by step (teacher led).

After this, students were encouraged to draw it again using their own ideas and imaginations while looking at a slideshow of real owls.

Begin by selecting a piece of neutral paper.

Draw the owl very lightly on the paper, filling up the space.

Always draw light until you know it's right, then go darker with a marker.

This subtracts from frustration and adds emphasis to what's good.

We used a circle tracer to select the right size for the eyes. Use orange or yellow paper, trace circles and cut out 2 circle eyes.

Glue them on top of the eyes you drew with pencil.

Use a black marker to make your details darker.

Add texture and detail to your drawing.

I love construction paper crayons!!

They are designed to show up well on darker colored paper.

Use these crayons to add bright color to the details of your owl.

Cut out your owl and glue it down to a larger night color paper;

Black, blue, purple or grey.

More glue does not equal better hold! Use dots around edges of owl then stick it down.

Use a black marker to add a limb for your owl to stand on.

You can also draw leaves coming off the limb. You can draw a moon, birds or whatever your imagination leads you to.

Use construction paper crayons again to add to the background! be careful not to cover up your black lines. These crayons are good at covering up that stuff.
