Three Line Contour Doodle

1. Get Paper

2. Choose 3 different colored markers. 

3. Draw 3 THICK lines going across paper 

-they cannot be straight

- I went back over my likes multiple times to thicken them up.. 

  

4. Outline lines with another line. 

- Use a color that is noticabley lighter or darker than color used. 

  

5. Use lines that follow along the outline repeatedly following the contour of the line. 

-Do not let the lines though the previous line, you may need to alter line in order to avoid this. 

6. Add designd or more colors to inbetween lines. You can change color as you go if you get bored of using same color for the contour lines. Add details or fill inbetween lines until you have filled up the paper. 

WRITE YOUR NAME ON THE BACK!!! (not with Sharpie).

The first Abstract Design was created by Wassily Kandinsky 

in 1911, called Komposition V

Since Kandinsky created the first piece of Abstract Art, 

many others have followed his creative footsteps.

Look at all the images above. 

You see lots of shapes and lines. 

Some shapes are not really shapes because there is no outside line. 

These are called Implied Shapes. 

See how they overlap the actual shapes and implied shapes?

You are going to begin your own

ABSTRACT DESIGN!!

Follow these Steps...

(pictures of steps below steps)

1. Get white paper (write name on back corner)

2. Draw 3 Big Shapes

3. Color the 3 big shapes with light colored markers 

(yellow, pink, peach, yellow orange, pastels, tints, or neon highlighter colors)

4. Draw 5 more shapes with a pencil VERY LIGHTLY. 

(these can partially overlap other shapes if you want). 

5. Draw lines or dots IN these shapes with a darker colored marker. 

(DO NOT trace the shape or define it)

6. Erase the shapes you drew with a pencil. 

(this is called an "implied shape") 

7. Draw 5 random black lines anywhere on your picture. 

(spiral, zig-zag, wavy, dashed, etc)

8. Draw 5 more random colored lines anywhere on your picture. 

9. Add more shapes or lines where you feel there needs some. 

Doodle Days

Doodle Days are fun days. 

You can doodle anywhere! 

In a shape & around a shape. 

In a rectangle, in a square, in a circle.

Doodle Day

Doodle, Zentangle, Daydreaming in Ink...whatever you call it, the concept is the same. 

It is SUB-CONSCIENCE Drawings. 

It keeps your hand active to allow your mind to concentrate. 

Its NOT DRAWING!

Drawing has a plan. If your plan goes astray, you get upset and stressed. 

Since Doodling is spontaneous and unplanned, 

expectations are non existant . 

You just GO WITH THE FLOW of the ink, literally. 

Using lines, shapes and patterns to create 

a blend of unplanned spontaneous harmony on paper. 

You are not supposed to make it 'anything". No cats, no dogs, no houses, no things. 

Just pure designs. 

Using a pen is best, so you are not determined to erase what comes out.

WHERE DO YOU DOODLE ?

Paper, your shoe, a DVD, your hand, your homework... 

DVDs

Permanent Marker on an old DVD or CD looks beautiful. 

You can doodle a circle with RADIAL DESIGN. 

Here I had kids trace a used disc 3 times to plan out a design. 

Then they started on an old DVD or CD with permanent marker using their favorite design.
