=Cubist Style-
Pablo Picasso and George Braque

What is Cubism?
  1. Created by Pablo Picasso and George Braque, it is an early 20th-century style and movement in art, especially painting, in which perspective with a single viewpoint was abandoned and use was made of simple geometric shapes, interlocking planes, and, later, collage.

Artist inspired by the Originals...

Tim LIncoln

John MacTaggart
And Me, Tabitha Morgan

THIER SIMILARITIES are what our focus is going to be for this project:
Seeing multiple perspectives at one time (top, side, back, front)
Broken up areas, like shattered glass.
Values running through the broken shapes.
Occasional collage elements included (newspaper, wallpaper, printed paper).

CUBISM CHALLENGE:
Include pieces of collage into your objects or background. Picasso and Braque were the inventors of Collage as an artf form.
Include fruit, skulls, or musical instruments in your still life like the 2 originals.

-Preparing a Still Life-

Collect object of various sizes, textures, and shapes to put in still life.
It is fun if you have personal object in the picture as well, to keep the still life unique and relatable:
your favorite shoe, stuffed animal, water flask, headphones?
ARRANGE OBJECTS
-Use a neutral background to make drawing easier.
-Bigger/taller objects in back
-Staggering objects (in between rather than right in front of)
-Odd is Good (3, 5, 7...) for Balance Purposes.

Take some photos from different perspectives, then choose which works best for you...
Converting them to GreyScale will take less focus on color and more focus on SHAPE, FORM, and SIZE. This may help when drawing them.

I used Grid# app on my Iphone to put a grid on the photo I chose.
*Since the paper I use is 12 by 18, I did a 6 by 9 grid.
I will use 2 inch grid lines on my 12 by 18 paper.

GO TO:
https://www.photomultitool.com/grid/
on your computer,

OR on your phone...

I made a grid on my GreyScale and Colored photo.
*Lighter value colors (yellow sunflowers) in the greyscale got lost in background.

I made my grid lightly on my 12 by 18 paper (6 by 9 2 inch squares).
Start converting from little photo to big drawing.
Outline with thick, comic book like lines.
